Mark Lee

Mark Lee is an Associate Attorney with the Law Offices of W. Scott Smith. As a native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mark is renowned for his client-centered approach, and ability to cultivate long-term, family-like relationships with clients. With a proven track record of success, Mark has won multiple high-profile criminal cases and secured the release of countless clients from jail across the state of Georgia.

Mark’s educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Savannah State University, where he graduated cum laude with a major in Global Logistics and International Business. Outside the classroom, Mark was a member of the football team and was elected captain during his senior season. After briefly pursuing a career in professional football, Mark’s passion for justice led him to law. Mark earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, where he was awarded a Pro Bono Award for completing 100 community service hours. He was also recognized as the best oralist in his 1L class. In addition, Mark excelled in competitive mock trial and moot court competitions, winning many intramural awards, including the Top Overall Defense Team in his 2L mock trial competition.

Mark spent his final year of law school as a visiting student at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he continued to demonstrate his passion for advocacy by joining the school’s prestigious mock trial team. His team competed in the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Student Trial Advocacy Competition, winning the Southeast Regional Championship and ultimately ranking ninth nationally.

Early success in mock trial competitions sparked Mark’s ambition to become a trial lawyer. He interned at the DeKalb County Public Defender’s Office, where he practiced under the third-year practice act for law students. During law school, Mark decided to dedicate his legal career to criminal defense, and he has remained a criminal defense lawyer throughout his entire career.

After law school, Mark began his career as a Public Defender in Georgia’s High Profile and Gang/RICO Unit, where he represented clients in complex and high-stakes cases. Mark has remained dedicated to defending those without a voice, believing strongly in justice for all. He has continued his legal education by participating in the National Criminal Defense College, and he is also a member of Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mark takes pride in his role as an advocate for the underrepresented and those who have made mistakes, believing deeply that everyone deserves a second chance. He fights tirelessly for his clients and is committed to defending anyone who needs help.

He is the first attorney in his family and when he’s not in the courtroom, Mark enjoys spending time with his loved ones, particularly on road trips, sporting events, and exotic international destinations.
